Two at the price of one:kinetic resolution of multi-substituted metallocenes

Molecules containing the key planar chiral scaffold are com-monly used as ligands in asymmetric catalysis[1].As such,devel-oping efficient methods to rapidly functionalize planar chiral scaffolds has received substantial attention,and several elegant synthetic strategies have been developed to this end.Over the past decade,transition-metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-H functionalization has become one of the most powerful strategies in the field[2].Previous works on the syntheses of planar chiral 1,2-disubstituted metallocenes often rely on the use of pre-installed chiral auxiliaries or stoichiometric amounts of chiral bases[3],but these methods are limited to preparation of 1,2-dis-ubstituted metallocenes and construction of C-N[4]and C-Si bonds[5].
