New function of gossypol, a natural product of cotton

Cotton plants are not only the global crops integrating fiber, oil and protein (Hu et al. 2020; Xiao et al. 2017), but also the medicinal plants with potent application values, which were well described in the most complete and comprehensive medical book such as Compendium of Materia Medica and Chinese Materia Medica.
