INTRODUCTION
The tendon anchors muscle to bone and transmits the forces generated by musculoskeletal tissues to enable body move-ment. Increasing incident rates of tendon injuries due to strenuous exercise or age-related degeneration are becoming increasingly challenging for medical personnel. Tendon hetero-topic ossification (HO), which is characterized by endochondral bone formation in tendons, is the major histological feature of tendon injury or tendinopathy at later stages.
