The land-sea interface mapping:China's coastal land covers at 10 m for 2020

The so-called"Great Sea Wall of China"has recently been said to cover 60%of the country's coastline[1].The statistic is alarming,and while lacking in accuracy,provides a spur to investigate the problem more carefully.The problem is one of the current state of China's land-sea interface(LSI)with the fastest growing urban-ization in the history of civilization.LSI,generally referred to as coastal areas,is among the most productive ecosystems,providing considerable social-ecological services[2]and its status is of vital importance in multiple respects.Yet,in addition to the intensified anthropogenic pressure,coastal areas are increasingly threatened by extreme weather,sea-level rise,biodiversity reduction,and water eutrophication[3].In China,the rapid industrialization and urbanization along the coastal regions have dramatically reshaped the LSI geomorphology,which has aroused a series of environmen-tal concerns.
