Different Perspectives on International Oil Prices
文献摘要:
This year, international oil prices have continued the upward trend of last year. The Brent and WTI futures prices, two international crude oil price benchmarks, reached USD 139.13/barrel and USD 130.5/barrel respectively in March, hitting new highs since the US subprime mortgage crisis in 2008 and remaining at a high level of above USD 100/barrel. However, with the inflation rate of Western developed countries such as Europe and the United States gradually hitting new highs in succession, due to repeated COVID-19 outbreaks and the global supply chain tensions they cause, expectations of an economic recession are rising, and a potential plunge in the demand for crude oil is cause for concern. Oil prices have fallen sharply since July, with Brent and WTI crude futures falling below USD 100/barrel.
