Reactions between graphene oxide sheets cause irreversible agglomeration
文献摘要:
Graphene has received increased attention recently owing to its wide range of significant applications.Graphene is comprised of planar sheets of carbon atoms arranged in six-membered ring net-works(Fig.1a).An atomically thin sheet of this substance can be regarded as molecular entity,in which nanometer-scale corruga-tions and defects create different physical and chemical environ-ments.Knowledge about how these sheets interact with solvent molecules and how the defects govern these interactions is a crit-ical component of understanding and predicting the liquid-phase chemistry of graphene.Contact angle measurements have been typically utilized to gain macroscopic information about interfacial interactions occurring between water and graphene.Owing to its one carbon atom thickness, the top single-layer of graphene is wet-ting transparent to the underlying substrates[1,2].The surface hydrophobicity of graphene can be induced by adsorption of air-borne pollutants(e.g.,hydrocarbons)[3].In addition,graphene-based interfacial materials having either superhydrophobicity or superhydrophilicity have been developed.
